Exactly, fat people would survive it, Morti could become slim finally. He should get away to the other part of the island not to be eaten by the others tho.

If you are obese you can survive a bit longer but in worst shape all along as the fat will able to meet most calories requirements except for brain cells, then the body will start breaking down muscles to get the brain's glucose needed.

In other words, if you are fat you slowly die unable to chase anything that might be edible having even less strengh while being heavier than everybody else. Or if you are in shape you have a couple of more days/weeks to find something to eat before the body will begin to shut down and death will come more rapidly. At least you had a shot.

If you are not eating anything, and have a lot of lose skin, protein will go from there first rather than muscles.
This is why people who do long ass fasts to lose weight end up with least lose skin.

After a weak or so without food, he would start to gain energy.

The worst is for those who are naturally hyper, they would lose strength really fast
