Yeah I agree, the US doesn't really count we've had innovators of all stock. Germans, Italians, Jews, Chinese, Russians, French, Dutch, Blacks (mostly toward music). You're also right about the empire. They largely conquered native lands with superior numbers and weaponry.

I think dominance of the English language is due to American influence on the world rather than British. The U.S. has also many inventions. The U.S. may have started as an English colony, but has far surpassed Britain in many aspects. Also, the U.S. has more citizens not of English descent than those of English descent, so it's not like we are an extension of England. The U.S. has many products that are superior and has had many inventions. But so have other parts of the world.

And yes, the U.S. is the world's only superpower.

I like many American products, but there are some British products I like too. For instance, I own a British car....a Jaguar XF. America makes many great things, but cars are not one of them, lol. My last car was Japanese and my next will probably be German.

Yes but it was Britain who planted the seed by establishing its empire all across the planet leaving very few countries untouched. After the empire disintegrated, United States continued to spread English with itss strong economy and huge immigration. The internet pretty much sealed the deal as English became the international language of business.

What is that wild amateur video for? It only shows Britain's mark of colonialism, it doesn't prove anything in my last comment wrong. The English language domination in the world is certainly from American influence on the world....just look at the U.S. Dollar is the international currency. American influence is evident. Look at Spanish, Spain conquered many nations around the world, but Spanish is not the international language, English is. It's from America's influence on the world.
