Croatia lacks many of the cultural influences that all other Balkan countries have, and they are more linked to Central Europe and Italy.

Albania is full italian influence,culture, all...,now Albania is not Balkan ?

Well, for most of the middle and modern period, albania and co were part of the byzantine and ottoman empires whereas croatia and slovenia were under austria's sphere, so some differences in general outlook and survival values would develop.

I think of all Yugoslavia and succesor states as Balkan, at least geographically.

Sounds more Polish than Balkan.
When I think "Balkan" music, I will always use this as an example, since it's an Albanian song that has been repackaged and translated into Greek, and I can't imagine it being from elsewhere.
