The funny thing is that South Asians are counted as Asians in the US, but Arabs as whites. In reality many Arabs are not lighter than Pakistanis. Moroccans and Egyptians often have a visible Sub-Saharan admixture. Punjabis are technically Caucasoids, but they are lumped together with Koreans and Chinese.

That's because the Jews themselves ( Ashkenazi Jews ) are from 22 - 65% Arab and 35 - 78% European. An autosomal DNA study shows they are closer to European but nowhere close to being European even though most of them look like it. Btw Actually I'm not entirely sure if their Southwest Asian and non-European admixture is like those of Saudi Arabs but is definitely originated in Middle east next to the Arabicized people.
