The film is not historical. William Wallace did exist but most of the exploits in the film were made up. He died over a century before the woman he was supposed to have impregnated lived. He never invaded England. It's fictional.

Well right now we'll see whether the referendum over Scotish independency will impact the European parliament or not, but my bet it will just increase the anti-Eu sentiment and the anti-Eu parties a lot more.
