This is not a new problem. Balkan Romani were having chance for that for at least 50 or more years. Those who were able for that, they are already integrated and even assimilated. Those who didn't want to integrate, they are not.
But I don't think they will never disappear as ethnicity in mix with other people because they like to stick in their community, which is expected and fine. So it is more a question how to integrate Roma community better in a society. I think lot depends on them as well.
I don't know for other countries but in Serbia there are usually double standards that are against the law but that excuses Roma people from law because nobody wants to work around that. For example they would be able to illegally connect on public electric supply and nobody would touch them for that, like "they already don't have money so let them steal from country a bit" and lot of similar examples. Somebody already mentioned problem with children neglect and similar. Another example in public transportation you can see Roma people with children that beg for money, they don't pay card, that is obvious but that is "expected and tolerated" as well.
