The white fertility rate is close to 1,7 in France.

North Europeans, South Europeans, in the end we are all in the same boat....1.88 and 1.42 are both in the road of extinction .
Europeans want to offer the best life and education to their kids and so they give birth to as many kids as they think they can handle, which most often means 1 or 2 kis. An additional problem of course is the lack of time due to the working hours of both parents

And even so, most children i see around Lisbon are black. And passing by a primary school of today, there's a clear difference from when i was in 1st grade.
I guess they make us win the Southern European birth rate.

If I am not mistaken France and the Scandinavian states have strong pro-natalist welfare policies. Policies that make it easier to have more children include things such as a family allowance, generous maternity leave policies, and state-funded child services like preschool and daycare.
