The World Heritage Roman Spa City of Bath is English, (along with Oxford City, Avebury, Stonehenge, the Cotswolds, Norfolk Broads, Lake District, etc).

Edinburgh isn't an 'English city'. It's the capital of Scotland.

I once heared about people called "Scots", they were supposed to be freedom loving patriots. I am pretty sure those people dont exist anymore...

To be honest. Many Scots say it's English 'influenced' too...

It's a great city, busy though. Remember going to see the castle, and the trip through the castle was basically a giant queue. Saw a Maori though...

It's about half 50/50. English born people swayed the vote to no. I'd agree though, plenty of cowards.

The referendum was a disappointment, even for me who has no Scottish ties whatsoever. Cant imagine how it must have been for you and other true sons of Scotland.

Nice coffee shops, but horrible coffee. Lot's of nice restaurants, but very pricey ones. Lot's of cheap ones too, but mostly crap. Very low quality produce available. The very few spots where you can buy decent produce are ridiculously dear. Accommodation isn't really cheap; in fact it is quite expensive and demand is already overcoming offer in the last couple years or so.Most landlords are disgusting people and let's not even start with agencies.

Comparing it to London makes no sense, it should be compared to a city of similar size and comparable economic output. It really is a good looking city, but it is not the most beautiful city in the UK, let alone Europe. It is also full of snobs, hipsters who believe they possess a high cultural level but the only high level they really have is of consumerism.

The gap between the rich and the poor in Edinburgh is particularly obscene too, and government officials do not really care much for that except for elections time. The working class gets ripped off time after time. Gentrification IS A PROBLEM.

Corruption in Holyrood exists, and in no small amount. Huge chunks of public money is splashed on stupid shit. The weather is miserable 90% of the year. Lothian buses are not very reliable. Traffic is bad. The adjustments needed to accommodate the absurdity of the trams are a headache more often than not. If you work in the city centre early Saturdays or Sundays, get ready for piss, vomit, garbage and seagulls all over the place.

The (Virgin Money Presents) Fringe is every year more disgusting than the previous. The city completely wrapped up in posters of stand up comedians which are mostly clones. Most of the best spaces of the city have been removed or privatized over the last 7 years or so.

On top of that the city voted no to independence.

I love Edinburgh, as a matter of fact there are more than 50 things that make it a good city, but very few of them are actually in the list. This is a list concocted by "we know who" trying to paint the city in a light that doesn't really represent it.

Ojįncanu sounds like a proper local. moan moany honest edinburger. lol

Edinburgh has the nickname 'auld reekie', people should look it up.

To be honest I quite like the grimy Edinburgh,. Spent a good part of my childhood at my aunties in Gorgie and the smell of brewery was something I loved. Coming from a poorer boring area 15 miles away from Edinburgh & coming to the city was always something to look forward to. The tenements and smell being part of it.

Btw the indy thing. I have friends & family who voted no. Am just venting there. Getting out of my system.
