19 Lesser-Known Travel Destinations To Visit Before You Die

You can travel the world a dozen times over and still not see all of the spectacular sites that exist. Some destinations are so popular a large percentage of people travel to see them, other destinations offer just as much ‘wow factor’ without the popularity.

This adorable resort is located in the province of Dordogne.

This monastery looks out over some truly breathtaking views of the surrounding beach town.

    Psychedelic Salt Mine, Russia

Located in Yekaterinburg, Russa, this amazing spectacle is actually part of an abandoned salt mine. Located 650 feet below ground, funky patterns and colors make up the mineral rock surrounded by a number of secret passages.

    Marieta Islands, Mexico

You have to get a permit in order to explore this incredible location in Mexico, although the sights are well worth it. Everything from dolphins, humpback whales, manta rays, and sea turtles call this gorgeous patch of land home.

    Lake Natron, Tanzania

It looks like a rug, but really this lake has a high evaporation rate paired with high alkalinity, which forms a crusty surface over the top. It is shades of red and pink because of the salt feeding organisms that call this unique location home.

    Kek Lok Si, Malaysia

Stunning pictures! I never knew there could be pink coloured lakes. It's extremely beautiful!

I like all the pictures... but I'd especially love to see the enigmatic and mysterious-looking vintage castle and its spiral staircases and grottos in Quinta de Regaleira... the cave in Hang Son Doong.... the Marble Caves in Chile (incredible) .... the elegant Santa Maria dell’Isola perched on top of a hill on the small island, and the enchanting Hotel Moulin de Roc in France.

I wonder how the tree-lady with a bird in the palm of her hand was created in the Montreal Botanical Gardens.
