Default The position of French in France

What's the situation with the French language in France nowadays? I've heard it's not under threat despite the mass immigration. North Africans and black Africans adopt French as their main language, right? Arabic won't stand a chance, because it has many dialects which differ greatly from Standard Literary Arabic. Poor peasants from Algeria and Morocco don't know it while 2nd generation immigrants go to school in France without studying it. Black Africans have only tribal languages that have no written tradition and can be used exclusively as spoken vernaculars. So everyone has no other option but French which is very well developed and widely used on the internet. Am I right? By the way, French is official in many African countries and used as a medium of instruction there.

It's not under threat, especially in comparison to Norman, Occitan, Breton, etc.

French isn't suffering from Arabic. It's suffering from Anglicization.
You can hear already plenty of annoying English loanwords, specially in the younger generation of stupid kids

Week-end, shopping, fun, etc are now part of contemporary speech in Paris.

It's a problem of most modern languages. Germanic and Slavic languages have a lot of English loans many of which sound foreign and ugly. I like English, but I hate its dominance in the world.
By the way, French is quite similar to English in vocabulary, English borrowed a lot from Norman French. Besides, they share a great amount of Latin words (direct borrowings from Classical Latin). That's the reason, I think, Romance languages like French and Spanish are less English-influenced than, say, German or Dutch. It's like English has little to offer them.

A lot of africans and arabs immigrants come from country who already have french as official language or where french is speaking as lingua franca. Some leftist try to put arab as a teaching language in french school, majority of the population disagree.
We are tolerant but still, you come in France you speak French. The language is a bit the red line to tolerate immigration.

According to Rudel, North African Arabs from former French colonies speak French very well so I'm assuming they speak French casually in their countries.

If he means the adult generation, 35+ years old, then yes, there's a point to be made there. Younger generations speak just ok.

No real discussion here, the Maghrebis and other Africans migrating to France already speak French fluently, and many times even prefer it.

Why is there a difference between the generations?
