Here in the west, German surnames dominate along with the Anglo.

    Cohen, Levy, Askenazi, Elia.

The Battle of San Pasqual was a military encounter that occurred during the Mexican-American War in what is now the San Pasqual Valley community of the city of San Diego, California. On December 6 and December 7, 1846, the Californios, and their Presidial Lancers, led by General Don Andres Pico, (1810-1876), defeated Stephen W. Kearny´s US Army column of 150 men.

Here, it is mostly arabic-, berber- and spanish-derived besides the usual hebrew ones. There are also the usual german names.

French surnames are rare and are often restricted to names of cities (from southern France) with old and major jewish communities like Narbonne, Avignon...

Levy, Cohen, Sepharty, Fassy"from Fez", Castillio "from Castillia", Azulay"Blue eyed", Toledano, Tlemceny, Tounsy, Azuelo, Ankri, Benon, Skaly"Sicilian", Ezerzer, Himi, Haco, Wizgan, Zafrany and name starting by Ben like Ben Aim, Ben Aksas, Ben Davis ...
