I don't see anything "Balkan" though. But they can pass as Greek I guess

That does not make sense. If people think they look more Greek than the Sicilians do there is a reason for that. More Balkan influence in Apulia than in Sicily.

Maybe it is that the apulians don't have phoenician and north african influence?

I haven't seen many Apulian genetic results but of those I have seen on PCA plots (there is one kicking around here plus 23andme results) they should be closer to Peloponnesians and to Aegean and Ionian islanders excluding Cretans/Dodecanese. Therefore a bit "north" of Sicilians.

Apulians or greeks will never be balkanoids. For me Balkanoids are Serbs, Croats, Bosniaks etc more or less EX-Yugoslavia.They just look different. I didn't say they can't pass in Greece but FIRSTLY they look southern Italians. As a group they look clearly Italians.

They'd pass best in Greece outside of Italy, and I think Apulians lack the Jewish/Levantine type influence that exists in some Sicilians/Calabrese. Maybe that's why these look more Greek.

WTF Check this... Googling levantine types and there are more sicilians than anyone else Is this normal for you?? Do you like to be linked with Arabs/Levantines? Why people like to whitewash levantines as a whole and darkified sic? Is Sicily the bridge for Europe for many? YES. And Sicilians hate this and they dislike arabs, turks and NA. This is clearly not real but just on the internet. Just try to tell IRL to a sicilian tht is a Levantine he will eat you.
