One thing about Kubrick that I hear discussed often is how he would force actors/actresses to do scenes over and over... and over again. This is one of many reasons why he had difficult relationships with most of his cast.

That is brilliant. It causes a great deal of stress on the actors. The pressure from stress creates diamonds with the right people and Kubrick always had the right people.
