Not really no. I mean, they seem to be culturally different than most ME countries, but at the same time, it isnt european either. Its a west Asian country.

If Ashkenazi Jews are to be included as middle eastern then Cypriots, Sicilians, Maltese and Aegean islanders are to be included as such as well (considering the fact that they all plot in the gap between Europe and the near east).

Armenians and Azeris can be considered Northern ME's because they genetically share elements with the Northern ME. Afghans are borderline but most people put them as Central-South Asians, but they share a lot of culture with the Middle East especially Iran.
