I was wondering what, if any, hobbies the good folks here have?
I have a few...reenactment (Viking Age living history exhibition.)
Archery (my passion! )
Writing.
and..well..almost embarrassed to say this...
belly dancing....
I took it up as an alternative form of exercise when the weights and crunches reached a plateau (and got boring!) and I wanted some fun form of exercise. So looked at various forms of dance. The likes of salsa is a little too frantic for me, so someone suggested belly dance, and have to say, it works fantastic wonders on your core, the spine, hips, belly, thighs. It can be aerobic as well as gentle and stretching. Well, anyways, I like it, and am just returning to it after some time out over the festive season.
Poaching..not strictly a `hobby`, but it`s in my blood, and I do miss mainland Scotland, for the red and roe deer, bigger game than this island where all there is are rabbits..not exactly challenging. And no, you can`t rustle sheep or cows here, because if any go missing I`m the first door the farmers knock on!
Camping. To me, there`s no more beautiful place than the highlands of Scotland for wild camping. Not a fan of campsites, despite the amenities, as they tend to also contain screaming children and suchlike.
Anyone else got any other hobbies?
Part and parcel of the reenactment are also hobbies like sprang (a kind of Viking knitting) and weaving on a viking warp weighted loom (proudly hand made from old ships oars )
I did try tablet weaving but got in such a mess with it, I gave it up.
