I'm not saying this with any agenda behind it, it's just my observations classifying: Architecture, Attitudes, Cuisine, Climate, Culture, Mentality, Phenotypes, Political leanings and more. All of these taken into consideration, a clear Mediterranean race/culture can be identified. Sure, no one is 100% the same and I'm not claiming that and anyone who knows my views well enough knows I hate breaking down national identity. I am just saying that Mediterraneans have a lot more in common with each other than they do with Scandinavians, Germans or Arabism/anyone else.

WTF? Probably there are more differences between people facing mediterranean than between all the people facing Pacific Ocean.

Even between Euro mediterraneans there are big differences, Greeks use even a different alphabet, Orthodox have different architectural styles than western Mediterraneans, and climate is usually wetter in the west, because it's near the Atlantic Ocean.

It extends deep into the Balkans too, although heavily admixed with Slavic as you go further north.

Mediterraneanism as 'one Mediterranean race'? No, not at all. Meds come in all sorts and that old story about all dark-haired tanned guys belonging to one single category can only be serious in forums and folklore.

Mediterraneanism as a culture sharing strong affinity in a number of elements? Yes, for sure. And little things satisfy me more in life than being a Med. The very word says it, the Middle of Earth. I thank the gods for living by this sea.

This said, I obviously identify the most with the other Western Mediterranean peoples: the Romance speakers. Secondly, with the Greeks, for whose ancient thinking, literature and culture I have a great respect. And, a bit more distantly, with other Balkan Mediterraneans, as well as the Maltese. Regarding other Meds, that is, from Turkey, the Levant or North Africa, I can only relate with those who show a rather European mindset. That is, those who are educated, non-religious, and speak fluent English or French.

As a racial ideology yes, but better say that there was. It was never, however, really dominant.

Still exists Mediterraneanism as a geo‐cultural notion, though. Very different thing from the racial ideology.
