Thanks, I don't like anything too dramatic or artificial looking with my hair and make-up, (that's why I opt for dark brown hair colour rather than jet black, to create a softer look) but I've seen some nice two-tones or red and black hair on other people and it looked good on them.

I wonder where the figure of less than 3% of the world's population has red hair came from? It's not accurate as there are countries in Europe with less than 3% and it is much rarer in other parts of the world. It is much more likely to be at the highest end 0.5% and that is a generous figure. So many statistics are off. There are 1.5 Billion Chinese and 1 Billion Indians how much of a percentage would red hair be in those populations?

This is an interesting site about the germanic-celtic connections with red hair, it's distribution across Europe, and it explains the genetic causes, ethnic origins and history of red hair.
"Red hair has long been associated with Celtic people. Both the ancient Greeks and Romans described the Celts as redheads. The Romans extended the description to Germanic people, at least those they most frequently encountered in southern and western Germany. It still holds true today."
"Although red hair is an almost exclusively northern and central European phenomenon, isolated cases have also been found in the Middle East, Central Asia (notably among the Tajiks), as well as in some of the Tarim mummies from Xinjiang, in north-western China. The Udmurts, an Uralic tribe living in the northern Volga basin of Russia, between Kazan and Perm, are the only non-Western Europeans to have a high incidence of red hair (over 10%). So what do all these people have in common ? Surely the Udmurts and Tajiks aren't Celts, nor Germans. Yet, as we will see, all these people share a common ancestry that can be traced back to a single Y-chromosomal haplogroup: R1b." Source: from the link provided above.
