Default Why are Black people not into Rock or general pop music?

Black people tend to show virtually no interest in Rock, Metal or White lead pop groups, i have come across many Blacks where i live but i think perhaps no more than 1 or 2 out of well over 100 i have known have shown any interest in Rock music especially, other groups like South Asians and East Asians seem more enjoying of other musics.

You are an underrated poster imo, making interesting observations sometimes.

I also noticed Rock and especially Metal is a white man's music, made by white people for white audience. (I dislike metal btw).

Most people will say it is because Black kids are not raised to like rock and metal or whatever but I honestly believe it's genetics. My theory is that different ethnic groups are genetically predisposed to favor certain genres.

I guess it's a matter of culture. In african tribalist cultures, something like rock would be considered strange. On the other hand rap and rnb talk about things that africans find appealing such as women, cars, love etc.

I think this is one of those insights you have that Creoda spoke about.

I seriously doubt you kept track of the musical interests of well over 100 Black people unless you're autism causes you to ask every Black person you meet what is their musical preference (a possibility since you are autistic).

There have been studies on this subject and for whatever reason Blacks don't appear interested in music dominated by Whites. Why? I don't know. Plenty of Whites enjoy music dominated by Blacks. There are a number of early Black rock artists and the genre has its origins in Black culture (rock 'n roll was Black slang for sex) but
for whatever reason Blacks as a group don't appear all that interested in what is today referred to as White music (you can forget about country music).

A mystery only Oliver can solve.

I hope this is sarcasm. His observation was made by me and my friends when we were like 10...

There is such an obvious difference in musical interest between Whites and Blacks you can't help but notice it (except many Whites are interested in Black music but the reverse doesn't appear to be true).

Yeah but where does culture come from? Why is a certain group's culture the way it is? (The question is semi-rhetorical)

My black friends listen pop, techno and rap. I think they are not against pop music.

Lol I would say my figure is a rough figure but obviously one of the main subjects I talked about at school, sixth form, work and socials is music and one of the main questions I was asked was if I was into whatever rap is called nowadays so grime, drill, afrobeats etc unfortunately I did dissapoint them when I told them I am more into Coldplay, Elgar etc though I have met a few who have shown more interest in white genres but definitely a few.

Another thing I would note is that Black younger people don't really show much interest in older black groups i.e 90s rap or 80s funk and Disco while I have met quite a few whites who are in their 20s and 30s and love 80s rock and 90s dance music. Maybe Black's are more in the moment and less nostalgic?

90s rap and RnB still have a reasonably big following, don't they?
