New Information About Waco

As U.S. presidential adviser Dick Morris was being interviewed by Sean Hannity recently, he gave out information about Waco that was not previously known to the American public.

"Waco" is shorthand for an armed assault by the BATF (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, part of the Treasury Department) and the FBI on the Branch Davidians, a religious group that lived near Waco, Texas. The assault was begun by the BATF on February 28, 1993. A firefight ensued, and 4 BATF agents and 6 Branch Davidians were killed. It ended on April 19, 1993 during a second and final assault, when the home of the Davidians burned to the ground. 76 Davidians were killed, either by fire, falling debris, or gunshot. The death toll included two pregnant women and more than 20 children.

In the past I had thought Reno was responsible for Waco, but Morris says it was all Clinton's idea.

It is similar to when people claim the CIA is evil, but frequently it is just following the orders of the president.

Bill Clinton orchestrated that takeover and in fact was so ashamed of what he did in Waco that he was not going to appoint Janet Reno to a second four year term” Morris stated.

“She told him in a meeting right before the inauguration day for his new term, that ‘if you don’t appoint me, I’m gonna tell the truth about Waco’ and that forced Clinton’s hand in reappointing her.” -Morris continued.

This article says he changed his story, and that he often makes wild statements.

Morris appeared on the April 21 edition of Fox News' Fox & Friends and changed his story, saying that he needed to "distinguish the facts from my conjecture based on the facts" and that Clinton "didn't actually say that." Morris now claims Clinton told him "she asked me to reappoint her for at least a year, because if I didn't, people would think that I was blaming her for Waco," an assertion consistent with his 2004 statement.

Fox News has a Dick Morris problem. He often engages in ethically dubious behavior, unabashed GOP advocacy, hypocrisy, outright fabrication of smears of progressives, failed political prognostication, extreme and inflammatory rhetoric, and repeated falsehoods.

They'll just offer him a $30 million severance deal like they did with Lou Dobbs, or just keep running hit pieces and smear campaigns against him and never let him on any shows he doesn't have a contract with. When you dabble in Conspiracy territory, you risk everything.
