I somehow understand Stefan. You see a couple as a relation that only involves two individuals, and everyone else is alien to it and has no ties to it. He sees mating as a mechanism of perpetuation of his serb society and as a duty of the serb people, not as a exclusive personal act. That's why he looks down at inappropriate sexual behaviour that is not for the best of serb people. He sees society above the individual, and individual interest are secondary to community and familiar interest, while you see the individual above the society.
