SCOTLAND is the least intelligent part of the UK and performs poorly on average IQ against most of Europe, an academic has claimed.
Professor Richard Lynn said the Scots average IQ of 97 was well below the England and Wales average of 100.5 and on a par with the Republic of Ireland. London and the south-east of England scored top in the UK, with an average IQ of 102.

Scotland - when split from the rest of the UK - comes two-thirds down the table of European average intelligence, beating Russia by one point and France by three.

But Prof Lynn, a lecturer at the University of Ulster, said he was not surprised by the poor Scots showing. He blamed the centuries-old tradition of Scots seeking their fortune south of the Border or overseas for a literal brain drain.

Prof Lynn said: "I believe this has been caused by selective migration. Over the course of two centuries, there has been a trend for more intelligent Scots to migrate to London and beyond, to New Zealand, Australia, the United States and Canada.


"Once in London, for instance, they have settled and reared children, who have inherited their high intelligence and transmitted it to further generations."

Prof Lynn claimed that Scotland was not alone in suffering from a long-term brain drain.

He said Corsica had a lower IQ than Paris because people gravitated to the economic powerhouses of major cities. Prof Lynn said: "This has hit Scotland particularly hard, so I was not surprised with this finding."

The survey showed huge variations in IQ across Europe, as well as within the UK. Scotland is 16th out of the 23 European nations, with eastern Europe filling most of the places below that.

Russia, Greece, France, Bulgaria, Romania, Turkey and Serbia all score lower averages than Scotland, with Serbians notching up just 89 IQ points on average.

The European bright sparks, according to Prof Lynn, are the Germans and the Dutch (107 IQ points) and Poland (106 IQ points). The UK as a whole comes eighth, behind Sweden (104), Italy (102), Austria (101) and Switzerland (101).

Gabriela and Monica Irimia, 23, the Romanian pop twins the Cheeky Girls, who live in Britain, said their homeland's poor ranking was an insult. Gabriela said: "Our father is head of the ambulance service in Romania. He's a doctor of medicine and extremely intelligent."

Well this why I don't trust IQ results, I mean if all non-whites are gone, Whites will just be racist to other whites and even use IQ to put them down. I don't think anything happened it's just a form of racism within the race.

Richard Lynn has been criticised for falsifying data.

In a 2008 review of the data used in Lynn's book, Hunt and Wittmann[4] write:

"The majority of the data points were based upon convenience rather than representative samples. Some points were not even based on residents of the country. For instance, the “data point” for Suriname was based on tests given to Surinamese who had migrated to the Netherlands, and the “data point” for Ethiopia was based on the IQ scores of a highly selected group that had emigrated to Israel and, for cultural and historical reasons, was hardly representative of the Ethiopian population. The data point for Mexico was based upon a weighted averaging of the results of a study of “Native American and Mestizo children in southern Mexico” with result of a study of residents of Argentina. Upon reading the original reference, we found that the “data point” that Lynn and Vanhanen used for the lowest IQ estimate, Equatorial Guinea, was actually the mean IQ of a group of Spanish children in a home for the developmentally disabled in Spain. Corrections were applied to adjust for differences in IQ across cohorts (the “Flynn” effect), on the assumption that the same correction could be applied internationally, without regard to the cultural or economic development level of the country involved. While there appears to be rather little evidence on cohort effect upon IQ across the developing countries, one study in Kenya (Daley, Whaley, Sigman, Espinosa, & Neumann, 2003[5]) shows a substantially larger cohort effect than is reported for developed countries."

Scots have a wider rich-poor gap. On one hand scotland has more people per capita in higher education than anywhere in Europe. But also has poorer areas. IQ is over-rated anyway. meh. Troll thread anyway.

Lol, or just general oneupmanship, an average of 97 vs 102 is not massive. All races can find means of confrontation within themselves, i think the only way you might get rid of this 'intra-race racism' (it's obviously not racism) is to eliminate the entire human population. Conflict is hardly something unique to northern Europeans, you are just obsessed with racism.
