Yes, it is tradition. But per stats the increasing norm in western society at least is early marriages end in divorce.
And yet some degrees are just "a dime a dozen" degrees. I've encountered grads, for example, doing cash at the local grocery stores because there's no jobs or they don't have the experience to compete.
I'm not saying your idea doesn't have merit. Just it may potentially be tougher than you think.
