A new report from the Senate intelligence committee says the CIA pureed hummus and put it in a detainee's rectum.

On Tuesday morning, the Senate intelligence committee released an executive summary of its years-long investigation into the CIA's detention and interrogation program. President George W. Bush authorized the so-called "enhanced interrogation" program after the 9/11 attacks. The United States government this week has warned personnel in facilities abroad, including US embassies, to be ready in case protests erupt in response.

The full report includes over 6,000 pages and 35,000 footnotes. You can read the executive summary here. Here are some of the lowlights:

    1. The CIA used previously unreported tactics, including "rectal feeding" of detainees (p. 100, footnote 584):

    2. CIA officers threatened the children of detainees (p. 4):

    3. Over 20 percent of CIA detainees were "wrongfully held." One was an "intellectually challenged" man who was held so the CIA could get leverage over his family (p. 12):

    4. One detainee, Abu Hudhaifa, was subjected to "ice water baths" and "66 hours of standing sleep deprivation" before being released because the CIA realized it probably had the wrong man (p. 16, footnote 32):

    5. The CIA, contrary to what it told Congress, began torturing detainees before even determining whether they would cooperate (p. 104):

    6. CIA officers began torturing Khalid Sheikh Mohammed "a few minutes" after beginning to question him (p. 108):

    7. The CIA planned to detain KSM incommunicado for the rest of his life, without charge or trial (p. 9):

    8. During waterboarding sessions, KSM made up a story that Al Qaeda was trying to recruit African-American Muslims…in Montana (p. 118):

    9. In 2003, Bush gave a speech at a UN event condemning torture and calling on other nations to investigate and prosecute torture allegations. The statement was so at odds with US practices that the CIA contacted the White House to make sure enhanced interrogation techniques were still okay (pp. 209-210):

    10. The CIA torturers told CIA leadership that torture wasn't producing good information from KSM. But CIA leaders didn't relay that information to Congress (p. 212):

    11. A detainee was tortured for not addressing an interrogator as "sir"—and for complaining about a stomach ache (p. 106):

    12. CIA officers cried when they witnessed the waterboarding of Abu Zubaydah (p. 44):

    13. Within weeks of his arrival in CIA custody, Zubaydah was "on life support and unable to speak" (p. 30):

    14. Bush Justice Department official Jay Bybee, who is now a federal judge, told Congress the torture of Al Qaeda detainees led to the US capture of Jose Padilla. That wasn't true (p. 207):

    15. The secretary of state wasn't informed when the CIA made secret deals to open detention facilities abroad (p. 123):

    16. Even President George W. Bush wasn't informed where the facilities were—because he feared he'd "accidentally disclose" the information (p. 124):

I am familiar with rectal rehydration therapy although I have never performed it. It is normally done in rural areas where they is no immediate access to intravenous infusions. Especially in the case of diarrhea, nausea and vomiting where the person cannot keep anything down without vomiting it all up again.

The colon acts as a fluid absorption machine. Food from the small intestine is liquid. When it gets to the colon, all water is absorbed and drained from the fluid. This is the reason why you defecate solids and not liquids.

In cases of extreme dehydration where there is no access to advanced medical care, you can infuse a solution of Sodium Chloride 0,9% via the rectum into the colon. As it is an isotonic solution there is less chance of fluid overloading of the system. The colon readily absorbs the fluid into the system and replaces the fluid which was lost to dehydration.

If you infuse a hypotonic solution you can overload the system with fluid as the colon just keeps absorbing and absorbing. Blood plasma levels increase and increase which can leading to heart and kidney failure.

If you infuse a hypertonic solution, it causes severe dehydration. It draws all the fluid out of the body and decreases blood volume, which eventually leads to death.

I'm not sure what the purpose of the hummus is (or whether it is hyper or hypotonic), but the infusion of hyper and hypotonic solutions will upset the balance of the body severely.

Pretty awful. The torturers were largely niggers.

Torture doesn't work. You'll only be told what you want to hear and so it's not reliable. Torture is done more for the pleasure of the person/people doing the torturing than for actual results.

Anyway, the CIA should be terminated. It's just one long history of war crimes and major fuck ups. Too many members going off and doing whatever they want (Contra scandal, for example). Their power isn't checked and when an organization doesn't need to explain itself then its members will run wild. Although in this case they got the nod from the powers that be in Washington at the time.

Actually the CIA did not do this on their own or of their own accord, and protested against it. Reports were coming out saying that the Bush administration had civilian contractors conduct the torture and ordered reports suggesting that the information came from more traditional interrogation methods while lionizing its "enhanced interrogation" program when in actuality professional interrogators were coming out of the woodwork and denouncing the program as causing previously productive sources of information to suddenly clam up under the less effective techniques.

Former CIA agents were pissed off. Al Qaeda on the other hand was well trained to resist torture and interrogation, by a double agent. Also, the actual interrogators at GITMO are untrained, unskilled, and really bad interrogators.

You won't hear about that on the news, because it's more embarrassing for the CIA than the entire Enhanced Interrogation program.

    Spoiler!

The CIA knew torture not to be an effective type of interrogation during the 1950's when the first studies were conducted about this and they had exchanges with the Gihaz El Mukhabarat El ‘Amma (Egyptian Secret Service). You don't get much useful information out of someone who you've just systematically traumatised over months into regressing into a total psychotic fugue.

They didn't even know how to torture people properly because they had no experts in the field since it was inefficient. Instead they hired an expert for resisting torture who then "reverse engineered" the handbooks on how to withstand torture into torture methods. The CIA literally had no idea what they were doing.

Torture method previously was tried in Algeria but the French failed. It was tried in Vietnam but the French and later Americans failed (Phoenix Program didn't work). Most of the valuable intel in Desert Storm was obtained via non-physical interrogation, recon assets, and electronic surveillance, not torture.

Even one of the CIA's most successful intelligence ops involved collecting trash and rooting through it, not torturing captured Iraqis.

This is why when the rendition program started in 1995, the CIA didn't care about what the operatives had to say in interrogations, they just let whoever else they gave them to interrogate them (often tortured probably), but they almost never accepted information passed on by these interrogations because they were coming from intelligence communities that let's just say are not the USA's closest partners.

The CIA was interested in the documents communications they had when they were intercepted (sometimes by CIA, mostly by local authorities). Then 9/11 happened, the intelligence community felt responsible, and branched out to collect more intel. Interrogating people, running black sites, etc.

However, the CIA did some fucking awful stuff for literally no reason at times, and most of it is redacted.

Nobody ever told CIA to use waterboarding. They started using that themselves (obviously because some interrogation specialist thought that was a good method to extract information). Then once that became public, people got buttflustered that America uses torture since "they just don't do that sort of thing".

Anyway, I feel torture of Islamic terrorists should be mandatory, complete with force feeding them pork products. Foreigners do not retain the same rights that US citizens do. They are subject to any method of information extraction necessary.

40 years ago it was white Communists, today it's brown Muslims. Tomorrow it'll be ANTIFA idiots lel.
