Some things that still make sense :
1.Children take the name of their grandparents. For instance i am named after my father's mother and my sister after my mother's mother.Of course you can ignore this and give extra names to the child,or just not follow the custom at all.
2.Family ties are still warm in Greece. It's not alien if you have met your second cousins for example.
3.People still eat lamb in Easter.

And that was pretty much it.

My mom is still scared of the Mati. Aunts too

I met my grandparents often and would spend my hollidays with them every summer , christmass , Easter but they didnt live close to us. My mothers parents lived to another city while me paternal Grandparents lived half the meditteranean away.

I agree the feeling of being with cousins and family and mess with each other and cook and do things all together is just the best feeling there is.

Maybe because of that familiar feeling ....it must have reminded you the women of your backround

For me it was either Christmas or Easter.

A Turk should be the last to speak about mustaches because 99% of them look like apes

It would fit better the Jewish stereotype for sure
