Hispano-Italian.
He could have been a perfect average Argentinian or Uruguayan
”Cantona came from a family of immigrants: his paternal grandfather, Joseph, had immigrated to Marseille from Sardinia, while his mother's parents had been Catalan separatists. Pere Raurich, Cantona's maternal grandfather, was fighting the armies of General Franco in the Spanish Civil War in 1938 when he suffered a serious injury to his liver, and he had to retreat to France for medical treatment with his wife Paquita."

No. It's rather like (in addition to Italians) 3 million Spaniards + one million Portugueses.

Well likely those numbers are a bit different, since a large part(or even majority) probably have combinations of Spanish, Portuguese, Italian and/or French and also Polish,Flemish and other things, like your former president Sarkozy(mix of Hungarian, French, Jewish and Greek). Still think it was worth to lose well over a million real Frenchmen in ww1 just to force not much more Germans in Alsace and Eastern Lorraine(with some 100.000 or so ethnic French there) back into France, after fighting the Germans and then the harsh peace causing some 20 years later another world war? Also why did France had such a low birth rate even in the first half of the 20th century, compared to any other European country? And then allready hundreds of thousands(or much more) of immigrants (chiefly European then) were flooding into France and of course millions of all kinds since the post-ww2 era. Why has France done this to itself? The ethnic situation is worse than in other European countries and much earlier it was begining to.
