I got from another person the idea that interracial relations could in the future, help humanity overcome health conditions like skin cancer. The final idea that I liked, would be how it'd be like if we ever met another species from a different planet. Since archaic culture already makes a big deal out of people with different skin colours, dialogue with other sentient species could be hard I guess.
But I was reading today some cool blogs, and found something that shows that primitive humans were already open to other species. It's pretty neat, check.
Tibetans thrive in thin air due to interspecies sex?
The mixing has made Tibetans stronger cuz some of their ancestors were different. We didn’t limit ourselves to interspecies sex with neanderthals. We also bred with an ancient human subspecies known as the Denisovans, who co-existed with Neanderthals around 50,000 years ago. Researchers have already found genetic evidence of Denisovan interbreeding in the DNA of Melanesians in Papua New Guinea. In fact, according to BBC News, Melanesian DNA comprises between 4 and 6 percent Denisovan DNA.
Now a new study from the Beijing Genomics Institute and the University of California reveals Denisovan-like DNA in the genome of Tibetans. Specifically, they highlighted the hypoxia pathway gene EPAS1, noted for its association with Tibetan high altitude adaptation, as a possible gene-flow byproduct of their ancient interbreeding.
