Which European city do you consider to be the center of western civilization?

For me it's Rome. There have been so many cultural achievements that has happened on that stretch of land we know today as Rome. From the times of the Roman Empire to the Renaissance the city achieved a lot of cultural feats that indeed made others envious of its feats. Not to mention the city's immaculate architecture that is always an awesome sight for your eyes to set on. I wonder what Athens (or even Constantinople) could've been if it wasn't occupied by the Ottomans for nearly 500 years... could have it rivaled Rome?

Culturally it's NY. Politically it's Washington. I tend to consider Brussels as an extension of the latter.
