    Default Who was Buddha?

Buddha said that Dharma, like a bird, needs two wings to fly, and that the wing that balances Wisdom is compassion.
Tell me who Buddha was. Don't use Google.

A morbidly obese guy who preached against desires and who reached Nirvana. He also had blue eyes, a sign of his superiority.

Some Hindu heretic who declared himself enlightened and spread his own teaching about anti-materialism. He was pretty fat to.
If anyone has any tips on achieving immortality, pm me.

I don't think he was fat, just because Chinese depicted him that way. The Indian statues aren't like that. As of his ethnicity he was Indo-Aryan and did not look like the Chinese and Japanese statues.

    He was rather like this:

You Greeks might want to check on Greco-Buddhist art. The civilisation that was in India made from descendants of Alexanders soldiers who settled in North India.

Siddhartha Gautama Buddha was originally a prince of the Kshatriya class who was raised in luxury. At his birth, a Brahmin stated that he would either be a world conqueror or a great spiritual leader. His father wanted option one, so he kept Siddhartha's surroundings as pleasant as possible. Led by the gods, he with a servant took a trip outside. First, he saw a sick man and he asked his servant, " what is wrong with that man?" The servant replied, " he is sick. Illness comes to every man." As they rode along, he spied a corpse being led to its pyre. " What is this?" he asked. The servant replied, " it is a dead man. Death is also something that happens to us all." The third person he saw was a Sannyasi. Siddhartha was struck by his peaceful countenance. " Who is this man?" he asked. The servant replied, " he is one who has renounced the world and aspires to live above suffering." Siddhartha's mind was troubled ever since. One night, leaving his wife and son, he secretly stole away from his father's house and entered an order of ascetics. Siddhartha starved himself, he tortured himself and he did all kinds of things to rise above the flesh and he gathered a small company of disciples while he did so. He realized that all this excess was killing him and it brought him no nearer to his goal. One day, meditating under what is now known as the Bodhi Tree, he attained his Enlightenment. The spirit Mara tempted him with dancing girls, he put every source of fleshly pleasure before Siddhartha, but the Buddha would not budge. Finally, the evil one tempted him to enter Nirvana ( where all attachments are extinguished) immediately. Mara whispered that the world could not possibly understand his message. This temptation nearly carried the day. Then, the Buddha said, " some will understand." Then, with a shriek, Mara disappeared and lotus flowers rained down on the Buddha from heaven. Buddha taught the Middle Way, the Way between excess of pleasure and the excess of discipline. He taught co-dependent arising ( all things are connected to all else and are in a perpetual state of flux), that all things suffer. Desire is the cause of suffering. There is a way to end the suffering. That way is the Noble Eightfold Path. The world is illusory, or samsara. Karma is the wheel of existence which binds us to this world, life after life. The way out is Enlightenment, realization that " all things are vanity" and to achieve Nirvana, you must quench desire. The Buddha was an influential spiritual person whose teachings have spread throughout Asia in various forms.
