My grandfather used to play too. Very old tradition in the mountains regions.

Yes, our language can sound like the south Italian/Napolitan dialect. It sounds the most familiar to me of the other Romances. Ciao, fratello!

an old tango-style song from the 1930s (interbelic period) these was very popular at that time

Gica Petrescu an old singer

Dan Spataru another one from the 70s

here is a song based on the famous romantic poet Eminescu

and a different version

a more folk kind of singer Liviu Vasilica

for some more modern music, there is the group Mandinga, which sometimes does songs in Spanish or with Spanish style
