Do British and French people really look that alike?

As irrelevant and insensitive as this may seem, I must say that, having watched all the coverage of the atrocities and demonstrations in France over the last few days, I was reminded of the fact that, as groups at least, French and British people don't really look as similar as some make them out to be. While both are very varied, it is undeniable that (a) as a whole, the French are noticeably darker-pigmented than the British, especially regarding the hair and eyes (less so the skin) and (b) regardless of (a), there are lots of Alpine types in France that are much rarer in Britain. A prime example is Bernard Cazeneuve, the Interior Minister, who of course was giving lots of speeches and interviews.

Btw, I should reiterate that, while it is true that the British and Northern French are quite similar, the point is that there is a lot more to France than just Brittany, Normandy, Burgundy and Picardy.

I think northern French look more like Dutch and Germans, and I've yet to see people from France who have the distinctive British sort of Keltic-Nordid look.

I think moreover that Brits differ. I think Wales and SW England have more Atlantid types and even some Atlanto-Meds compared to the rest of the UK, and eastern England and Scotland have the most people who look authentically Germanic. Irish have their own look but it overlaps to me more with Wales and SW England.

You do know that there are many non-ethnic French people in these rallies and marches right? French, jews, muslims, immigrants all stand next to each other in these crowds. I think the northern part of France is of course going to be closer to Britain and as you get more southern the less they look like each other. That's a given already.
