In 2020 moscow psychedelic rock collective Inna Pivars & The Histriones produced their album "Певчие птицы в лесу берендеев (Pevchiye ptitsy v lesu berendeev)" - Songbirds in the Woods of Berendeis. Album is the tribute to the soviet rock music of 70x. Seventies is the time of worthy psychedelic wave that has taken root in soviet mass culture. Also 70x is the time when the restrictions on russian ethnic culture in mass culture were removed and such bands like Skomorokhi or VIA Ariel appeared.


Clip "Предание Девичьего Поля (Predanie Devichyego Polya)" - Story from the Devichye Pole was filmed in Suzdal and in Devichye Pole place in Moscow. By the legend moscovites under the Tatar-Mongol yoke were obliged to pay tribute by the beautiful girls and gathered them in Devichye Pole (Maiden Field) but it is only legend.

Right after college, I moved into an apartment complex and had a middle aged Ukrainian woman as a neighbor. Every morning before 8 am she would swim laps in an unheated pool regardless of how cold it was outside. After she was done she would put on a robe, sit down at a table, and casually smoke a few cigarettes. It struck me because I can't imagine an American woman doing any of that.
