MANY people in the West mistakenly overestimates Europeanism in Russia. In fact the Russians, their civilization and mentality is closer to Asian countries.

How big of a thing is this?

It baffles me that this whole Eurasianist ideology is so common in Russia. It seems that Russia is a country in which ethnic Russians feel closer to the other races of the former Soviet Union than to their racial brothers in the West. Why is this? Is some sort of independent ethnic Russian state possible, and if so, would it be closer to the West than Russia is at present?

Since times of Teutonic order these 'racial brothers' were coming to Russians with fire and sword. From the time Rus principalities were formed in 900's till 1900's every single generation of Russian people had their own war thanks to wide variety of 'racial brothers'. Then in XX century Russians had two wars and both worse than everything that happened before. Is it really a big surprise for you Russians are not in a hurry to give them a big wet kiss?
