I don't understand. Why are they so different in the East Coast?

Its the same here in Brazil. The soaps here usually have a 90% white cast. Non-whites usually receive minor roles, usually as maids or criminals. Their goal is to brainwash the population and to sell a standard of beauty which most Brazilians do not fit in.

Sometimes Rede Globo comes out with productions with mostly Black actors, but the actors to not play "normal people", but represent types with deep cliché and stereotypes. Look at the cast, look at their clothes, they dont look like average people but as alien.

Sexo e as Nega was another trash produced by Rede Globo to stereotype black Brazilian. The black movement here issued a boycotte campain on it.

Light brown skin was rated attractive by white and black people over white or dark skin regardless of media influence.

So explain why Latin media insists on casting only white actors?

I'm interested in the audience aspect of it. Telenovelas are an old ladies thing, right? Young people watch this garbage in L.America? Don't they play games or use the internet?

Young people also watch it here! They are still populat. But, in recent years, theyhave been losing audience, since Brazilians are having more access to Internet or cable TV. I used to watch soap a few years ago, now I dont. Many people have been abandoning them
