Facts about Finland, courtesy of Lonely Planet:

The country was occupied twice by the USSR during WW2.

The Finnish language is, I quote from memory, "half Hungarian and half Finnish".

Many Finns have mobile phones, because there is no landline network here.

Agriculture was introduced to Finland by the American military in the aftermath of WW2. Till then Finns were hunter-gatherers.
