The mainstream media is not a single entity. Most mainstream media is also privately owned. This means that they can only show one side of a story and it's okay. All it means is that they are biased. If it were a state-owned media outlet telling lies in order to create a narrative different to reality then it is propaganda. An example would be when RT posted the satellite picture of the supposed jet that shot down the Malaysia Air Lines flight.

You're still treating Western media as if it were a single entity. I don't read local papers in Europe but in Australia you have access to media with various points of view. There is no agenda, it's just society.
