    Default Turbans in Turkey?

Ottomans are always portrayed in the west as having worn turbans. To what degree are turbans a part of Turkish culture today? Would someone look totally out of place wearing one in modern Turkey? Are they a part of national dress? Would the average Turk know how to wrap one? Is there a Turkish style of wearing a turban (Afghan lungees are wrapped in a particular style).

^ Sultan Suleyman the Magnificent (my favourite Ottoman leader) wearing a large turban

Big ass turbans, too. Perhaps because Ottoman culture was very Arabic influenced.

That's what Rulers of the caliphate wore, they wore turbans, since the first caliph Abu Bakr As-Siddiq, that was like the dress-code for a caliph, this is what Arabs wore back then, even before Islam, I belive it has to do with heat of the sun, somewhere along the line, the turban got modernized and was replaced by this:

    Ne mutlu Türküm diyene

Turban stands for "headscarf" in Turkish, Hijab to be specific. The type men wear is generally associated with imams and such.
