Oh boy... This shows that Chinese people are 'spiritually dead'... It didn't make sense for them to adopt Communism, which was a socio-economic system made by Westerners and for Westerners in response to all the social upheavals caused by the Industrial Revolution and the urbanization that followed, again realities that only Westerners experienced at the time... And they should have predicted the problems (like the irreversible pollution showcased here) industrialization will bring to them when they decided to become the 'factory of the planet'...

I think they did predict the problems, but they went along with it anyways because they thought it was the only way (not forcing factories to follow laws and regulations) for the factories in China, to remain in China. You can see even today when the problem is this bad, they still don't punish or even try to pressure factories to uphold the law. Judging from the actions of the Chinese government, money is still more important than all the problems that come along with becoming the "factory of the planet."
