Why did Bosniaks convert to Islam?

Bosniaks like to make out something special from their conversion to Islam, but only thing special about it isn't why they converted, but the fact that we weren't as successful as Bulgarians, Greeks and Serbs in Serbian Principality when it came to expelling Muslim population and forming a homogeneous nation state, which is what most of Christian Balkanites were trying to do.

It's not immigration if you move from Herzegovina to Bosnia as far as I know.
You've got more Bosniaks who actually originate from Serbia than we do.For instance, majority of Muslim population of Prijedor.

Because it was under Ottoman control, just like how later a lot of you guys fled to Sandžak, Macedonia, and some eventually to Turkey.

I heard that before they converted to Islam they were Bogomils.

Well, I can tell you one thing. Balkanite Christians like to make out something special that they are still Christians when reality is that allot of their population was protected by the church and conversions among orthodox people didn't happen as much as compared to others, although they actually did, there are atleast 1 million greek muslims, 1 million pomaks and then you have other slavic muslim minorties such as torbesh and gorani etc.

allot were also deported to Turkey even though they weren't turks because at that time one who was a muslim was referred to as a turk. this makes me think that other places might also of been refugees but i dont know.
