Inspired by a new member's name ...I wondered if any of you good heathens out there have come across this book and if so, what are your thoughts on it?

    Cheers!...Aemma

    What witchery is this!?

Oh, yeah, I think we have that book laying around somewhere.. Though I've not had the inclination to read it, though Mrs. may have. So I've really no idea why I'm responding to this... Now I'm just a fool, time for more coffee.

Yes I have that book and also picked up Sorgitzak: Old Forest Craft with it too. Both very decently written books with nice lore and content. Defiantly pick it up if your interested in learning about how witchcraft came to be in Europe. Its not a fuffy bunny book in any way.

LOL Nahh that's what makes you so lovable, Oulfie. LOL

I think I'll join you in having another cup of coffee.

Witchery indeed! But interesting I found. Though I usually dislike and usually stay away from the terms "witchery, witch" and all of that stuff (too Gardenerain and Wiccan and all of that mumbo-jumbo), there's not much that's different between this esoteric practice and what some of us do as heathens. Actually, this book seems more heathen than not in approach (from the very brief glossing over of it that I've done, at any rate).

Bah, I need that cup of coffee now. I don't think I'm making much sense either.

Ahh good to know, Mrs U. Thank you. Any other books in this genre that you might recommend?

I used to stay away from the term "witch" too, but sometimes its hard to explain it any other way. The term Traditional Witchcraft could be Asatru or Heathenism.

Both books are very Heathen with alot of mention to the Norse Gods. I was very nervous about the books but pleasantly surprised and excited after glancing through them when they arrived.

Section two is Metaphysics of Hell, Section three is At Fate's Well: Wyrd Sisters and Frau Holle (which was sort of why I bought the book) etc.. I was glad there is stuff on 'Fetches' too. Only other book I know of that went over that stuff was Germanic Heathenry. It covers basically all of the lesser talked about topics of Traditional crafts.

I have TONS of books on Traditional Craft and Heathenry but lol. Out of my last book batch.

Witchdom of the True: A Study of the Vana-Troth and the Practice of Seidr by Edred is a pretty decent one.

Witchcraft Medicine: Healing Arts, Shamanic Practices and Forbidden Plants a collaboration of a couple authors is a nice comparison between how gods and belief helped shape our medicine.

If I think of any others I'll let you know.

I'll second that and add this: Seidways By Jan Fries. It's not traditional, but is one of great utility.

I'll have to add that to my long list of books I must have.
