What color does your skin tan?

I don't tan, I just burn very quickly in the sun. I'm heliophobic and hate the sun. A tan is a sign of skin damage and it's unhealthy for the skin anyway.

Does anyone here tan on certain parts of their skin well, but not on others? Back when I used to play baseball, my arms would tan to the point of being light brown. But my face generally became sunburnt.

Since I had a baseball hat on, my face avoided the sun during this time, but my arms were always under the sun from 3 to 5 every day for the spring and early summer. Whereas the skin on my face would get it all at once on a day at the beach or whatever. But I'm probably wrong.

My face is whiter than my arms-torso for example, in my face, cheeks get sunburn before turning into my arm skin colour.

I think I have read that it comes down to skin thickness as well. I also once read that the closer the skin to the heart the better it tans because of blood flow? Kind of sounds like bs though.
