What exactly is Autism ?

I'm also very awkward sometimes among a lot of strangers, but if I get to know them, I'm not such anymore. Do I have hints of autism?

I'm not sure just know what you said here in OR. But recently I was called that here by some idiotic mad Italos, as "insult", because the anthropology videos I make. But they are stupid fucks, lol also I'm getting pay by YouTube for making them.

My wife's friend has a severely autistic kid and he's basically like a large infant. He isn't (and can't be) toilet trained, can't really feed himself, can't speak, etc. His issues go far beyond socially retardation.

They have a hard time relating to other people, struggle with language, and are more likely to be awkward in a social arena.

also some of those symptoms can also appear on non autistic people I think

Ye, the spectrum is very wide, and in some cases you end up with the situation you just explained. That kid could also be suffering from other things too.

There was a guy who I used to work with who had Aspergers (full blown Autism). I tried to get him to open up, ask him questions and what not but it seems he just din't "get it" as far as socializing goes. One time he broke down in front of me saying how he's 28 and never had a girlfriend, I told him well duh, you have to open your mouth a little to get one. Anyway this was a while back, he ended up pulling a knife on some other co-worker. He had a tendency to take everything one said in a very hostile manner, even if it was playful sarcasm.

It's possible to minimize the symptoms, but not to completely cure it via therapy and medication.

The idea of containing autism through diet is starting to pick up momentum however:
