Christian Identity is based off of British Israelism (there's a Christian Identity belief that one of the Apostles came to some place in London, I believe to what’s now St. Paul’s Cathedral? to preach, but was arrested by the Romans).

It is a Zionist theory that Brits descended from the tribe of Judah, they shilled for the modern nation state of Israel as well, all to get the Balfour Declaration which granted them Israel.

I also think Nazis inspired a lot of Christian Identity stuff with the idea of being the Lost Tribe, and they drew from a Viennese writer's Ariosophy from decades before them, and from British Israelism.

It's now basically Christian fundamentalism with the twist that the ancient Hebrews (the chosen of God and all that) were Aryans and modern Jews are the literal spawn of Satan who usurped the name. The white version of those "das rite" black Hebrew guys.

It is very reminiscent of an episode from The Boondocks called White Heaven.

But the fact of the matter is that the New Testament of the Bible actually teaches "Christian Identity", i.e. that Christians are the true "Israel of God"... but it's not by blood descent, but rather by faith in Jesus Christ. And they support it with the truth that the Jewish nation was never racially pure, and had always been based upon a religious identity. This is evidenced by several instances in the Bible of "Gentiles" who become Israelites by identifying with the God of Israel.

In the epistle to the Galatians the Apostle Paul goes as far as to say that Christians are the true children of the promise, the children of Abraham by his chosen wife, Sara. And that the Jews who rejected Jesus are considered children of the bondwoman (slave woman) Hagar. And that the latter will not inherit the promises of God made to Abraham.

Also, by the time of around 100BC, it is said by historians like Strabo that actually a majority of people in western Judea were actually of Edomite ethnic heritage, but had converted to Judaism and taken up Jewish customs, and intermarried with regular Jews. One famous example is the king Herod the Great, who died in 4 BC. And considering all this, it is not surprising that Jesus told the Pharisees that they were not children of Abraham as they claimed, but children of the devil. Also in the Book of Revelation, Jesus speaks of people who claim to be Jews, but are not, but lie... and that these people were the Jews from synagogues who persecuted the Christians.

Yes but this is not what Christian Identity refers to.

Sure, the mistake they're making is wanting to tie the people of God with a physical descent, instead of a spiritual one. Which is, incidentally, the exact same mistake that people (and sadly, many Christians) are making today by calling the Jews the "people of God".
