It is sung by a country artist, but it is a cover of "Hurt", originally written by Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails. I love this song.
I thought that Johnny Cash had great taste in the music he covered!

He died not long after this, medically from diabetic complications, but I think of a broken heart- his wife June died a few months before he did.

What a musical legacy, his own songs and those of others he chose to perform.

I read that Reznor was hesitant about thinking Cash could do his song justice, and his jaw "figuratively" dropped when he saw the video.
