Barack Obama: the most unpopular man in Britain?

By Nile Gardiner World Last updated: June 17th, 2010

What a difference 18 months and an oil spill makes. In January 2009 Barack Obama was hugely popular on this side of the Atlantic, and could have walked on water in the eyes of the British media, the political elites, and the general public. In June 2010 however he probably qualifies as the most despised US president since Nixon among the British people. In fact you can’t open a London paper at this time without reading yet another fiery broadside against a leader who famously boasted of restoring “America’s standing” in the world.

When even Obama’s most ardent political supporters in Britain, including Boris Johnson, are on the offensive against the White House, you know the president’s halo has dramatically slipped. It’s hard to believe that any politician could become more disliked in the UK than Gordon Brown, but Barack Obama is achieving that in spades. And as Janet Daley noted of the British press, the love affair with Barack is well and truly over.

The key catalyst for rising anti-Obama sentiment in the UK has been his disastrous handling of the BP issue, and his relentless desire to crush Britain’s biggest company. There is no doubting BP’s responsibility over the Gulf oil disaster, and it is right that the firm is being held to account for its failures. But the brutal, almost sadistic trashing of BP by the imperious Obama administration, which has helped wipe out about half its value, threatens its very future, as well as the pensions of 18 million British people and the jobs of 29,000 Americans. There is now the very real danger of the bankrupting of a great British enterprise, and the prospect even of a Chinese or Russian takeover.

Instead of adopting a constructive, statesmanlike approach, Barack Obama’s decision to launch a “boot on the throat” campaign, while adopting a thinly veiled Brit-bashing agenda, has generated significant bad blood in America’s closest ally. At the same time, the president has inexplicably rejected offers of help from the UK and an array of European countries, no doubt out of both pride and protectionism.

As I wrote previously, we are witnessing one of the worst exercises in public diplomacy by a US government in recent memory, one that could cause significant long-term damage to the incredibly important economic and political partnership between Great Britain and the United States. And for those who say this is minor storm in a tea cup, I would point out that it is highly unusual for a British Prime Minister to have to stand up to an onslaught against British interests by an American president, as David Cameron has just done. In fact the prospect of a major confrontation between Downing Street and the White House grows stronger by the day.

But this is not the whole picture. President Obama’s handling of BP is part of a far bigger problem. This is an administration that has consistently insulted Britain, and has even sided with her foes in some cases, most notably in its wholehearted support for Argentina’s call for negotiations over the sovereignty of the Falklands, a position that has been strongly backed by Venezuelan tyrant Hugo Chavez. Time and time again, the Obama team has undercut America’s key allies, from London to Prague to Jerusalem, while kowtowing to the enemies of the United States in the name of engagement. It is a disastrous foreign policy that not only weakens American global power, but generates resentment and anger in nations that have traditionally stood shoulder to shoulder with America.

The Anglo-American Special Relationship, the most successful partnership of modern times, will survive long after President Obama departs the White House. It is far bigger than any one president or prime minister. But there can be no doubt that it is being significantly damaged and weakened at this moment by the Obama administration’s sneering approach towards Great Britain, at a time when British and American soldiers are fighting and dying alongside each other in a major war in Afghanistan. President Obama needs to see the big picture and understand that his anti-British posturing is hugely counter-productive and highly offensive. He is already one of the least popular US presidents of modern times, not only in the eyes of the American people, but now the people of Britain as well.

No, it's the psychopathic, narcissistic, globalist warmonger Tony Blair of "New Labour" who is by far the most hated man in Britain, followed by his partner in crime Alastair Campbell. He's a former Prime Minister and leader of the UK who had to resign in disgrace, but his legacy and his powerful connections and influence upon the UK government policies and mainstream media today unfortunately lives on.

The Tory MP Tobias Ellwood (who is also the head of the sinister 77th Brigade in the UK that's responsible for cyber warfare, information warfare, suppressing information online, and for creating well-documented internet troll armies,) is another psychopathic warmonger who a lot of British people despise.

Ellwood would come third place as the most hated man after Blair and Campbell, after the televised news rants of Tobias Ellwood who recently demanded martial law in the UK, and hysterically urged for forced British mobilisation to be used as cannon fodder against the nucelar superpower of Russia which caused much public outrage and disgust, with a lot of British people angrily telling him to sod off and where to go in thousands of angry comments. (Ellwood won't be sending his relatives to the front line - that's for sure.)

Even the head of the British MoD quietly told Tobias Ellwood to shut-up by stating that the UK is dangerously low on ammunition and weapons stocks - so what are British troops supposed to fight with in a proxy war on behalf of the western globalist elites?!?

Blair, Campbell, and Ellwood are all part of the fifth column of devious pro EU globalists who hate the ordinary people.

Blair even unites people from all over the political spectrum in the UK (from both the left and the right) in our strong hatred of him for a long list of reasons.

Over 1 million people in the UK signed a petition against "Sir" Tony Blair receiving a knighthood from the late Queen Elizabeth II, which caused much public outrage that a despicable war criminal could receive a knighthood.

The former UK PM Blair (now a multi-millionaire) is given so much airtime on UK news shows to shove his unwanted opinions onto us about his desire to impose CBDCs and vaccine passports, of which a lot of people react with outrage and disgust that a war criminal is allowed any air time instead of being sent to the Hague.

Blair is responsible for the illegal invasion of Iraq, killing many innocent civilians as well as sacrificing a lot of young British troops lives, caused a flood of millions of refugees into Europe and counter-terrorism attacks happening back upon innocent civilians in our countries, and every new law and reform that Blair made in the UK and everything that he's ever touched is a mess. His destructive legacy lives on and furthermore he continues to cause harm around the world with his globalist Blair think-tank institute (an NGO.)

Blair looks demonic and is a very dangerous and evil psychopath. He's very narcissistic and has an overinflated ego. He thinks he's intellectually superior in a cunning and devious way and he's full of himself. He's also smug about silencing people who exposed his war crimes, who were either assassinated or jailed. (Dr David Kelly and Julian Assange.)

Obama, (a war criminal who is close friends with the Clintons) was shamefully awarded with a nobel "peace prize" (proving that awards are a meaningless joke in the west,) and he's a warmongering globalist who is responsible for overthrowing President Yanukovych in Ukraine in 2014 - along with Nuland, Soros, the CIA and MI6, destabilising Ukraine, sparking an 8 year civil war there leading to subsequent events today.

Obama is also responsible for illegally invading numerous nations, including Syria and Libya, brutally sodomising and assassinating the Libyan leader Gaddafi for daring to want an African Union and a gold-backed African currency to replace the USD, turning Libya from a former prosperous nation into an absolute mess today, and for funding atrocities around the world. Obama is a stooge of the CIA and the warmongering neolibs/neocons (not much difference between the two.)

But Blair is the most despised war criminal in the UK who caused a lot of permanent damage to our country in numerous ways. Unlimited mass immigration, Islamisation, cultural clashes, mass stabbings and industrial-scale rapes, and lots of problems happening in our society today, globalisation, punishments over free speech.... these policies all started on Blair's watch and can be traced back to him.

Blair also destroyed the traditional working-class Labour Party with his "New Labour" globalist policies after hijacking the party. That wretched, utterly corrupt, and ultra woke party is now heavily infiltrated and full of centrist Blairite globalist MPs. Blair destroyed and marginalised both the traditional left and the traditional right, and Blair still has a strong influence over the UK government and media due to his powerful connections.

The current leader of the 'New Labour" party is Sir Keir Starmer who is pro EU, pro NATO, pro wars, pro globalist agenda, pro net zero, pro lockdowns, pro gender ideology, obsessed with identity politics such as BLM and LGBT (as with the Dems in the US) as it's divisive and a distraction from realpolitik, pro cancel culture, pro mass immigration (which exploits people and suppresses wages,) a Blairite, and a millionaire champagne-socialist.

It's not that the Tories "won" the last election by an 80 seat majority - it's just that the ultra woke and so-called opposition Labour party are so much worse, that Labour lost. The majority of working class people didn't vote for the globalist Tories cos they like them, but because they're seen as being marginally as the lesser of two evils in a terrible choice between Tories and Labour. We have a uniparty system in the UK with no viable opposition.

Lib/Lab/Con/Greens are all the same with very similar policies (pro globalist, pro NATO, pro EU, pro WEF, pro unlimited mass immigration, pro Net Zero, pro woke ideology, etc,) which is why many Brits are cynical and often say they're politically homeless and feel unable to support any of the mainstream parties. During the last local elections, there was a very low turnout of voters.
