I'm not manly enough to pull of socks and sandals, so I'll just stick to shoes and boots.

I've always rather enjoyed a "preppy look"--argyle, houndstooth, classic cuts, that kind of thing. Hmm pics would help...
Anything from L.L. Bean (or look-alike) works for me for casual wear from chinos, to capris, to boatneck pullovers to fisherman's (aran) sweaters to Adirondack barn jackets:
For dressier occasions, I've always liked the crisp and understated look of the classic black cocktail dress:

5 Stages of Grief:
Denial: The initial stage: "It can't be happening." Maniot is on top of me.
Anger: "Why ME? It's not fair?!" (either referring to God, oneself, or Maniot perceived, rightly or wrongly, as "responsible")
Bargaining: "Just let me stay to post another day Maniot, please."
Depression: "I'm so sad, why are you picking on me Maniot?"
Acceptance: "It's going to be OK." There is always Skadi.

... boobs don't hurt, of course...
Remind me to sit you on my knee some time.
I never suspected I'd take any fashion tips from this thread, but, yes; I'm sold.Socks and thongs are much classier.....
They're vintage now?! I had no idea, I've been wearing them that long unawares.
?Que? Birch-trunks?!?!
Aye, know your limits, sonny.

Anyroad, you can't beat the Country Gent look;
I don't live up to it, to be honest. I'm naturally scruffy, I'm afraid. But an unattainable ideal is nice to have.
