They have so many children because there is no old age support, social security, or welfare to catch them when they have hard financial times... more children = more household income, and the children in developing nations begin working VERY young.

Actually, if everyone were to have 2 kids exactly, then the world population would remain stable, with no increase or decrease.

Yes, I'm aware. Maintaining the current world population shouldn't be a hassle in the near future (which is why I said 1 to 2), but demographic trends like this are a problem.

I think it's more the amount of resources people consume than overpopulation per se that is really problematic... If you don't buy your kids any toy/you force them to use the same clothing over and over again/etc., nothing prevents you from marrying an Albanian woman to raise a large family with her... That way you will win the demographic race against your evil Greek, Macedonian and Serbian neighbors!

My point is that in a overpopulated world there will be no quality of life. Serbia Greece Albania are and will be insignificant. When the world reaches 10-11 billion borders will no longer exist as well, this will destroy any quality of life on earth. It will be impossible to manage. So bringing kids into to the world today it might be the imoral thing to do.
