True enough, although cells could be made to last forever themselves, stripping the need to have endless replication. Problem though, would be a very high vulnerability to wounds and injuries.

Exactly,you answered yourself why making cells immortal is not an option.The second you have an injury,those permanent cells cannot reproduce new ones and your wound will stay open until you bleed out.

While with a maximized cell reproduction and removed limit,when you have a big gash,it will heal completely in a matter of minutes,the way the Terminator heals his flesh.That concept of instant flesh healing in some movies is not entirely impossible.

I doubt it. Not much scientific progress in America. Welfare reform and citizen entitlement reform are what the government seems most concerned about sadly.
