Default The G8 and G20 Summits

A thread for all things economic and political (only please ) with respect to the G8 and the G20 Summits:

    What's on tap:

Question: Can a group this big (the G20) really make some headway in terms of getting the world's economy back on track?

Question: The Bank Tax: A good idea or not?

This is a news report from last Fall:

Why Canada is not for a Bank Tax:

Now it seems it isn't a real go.

    Latest developments

After a day that left downtown Toronto looking like a combat zone, with vehicles set ablaze and store windows smashed, the city is bracing for more disruptions Sunday. At least 400 people were arrested Saturday and early Sunday.

While protestors and police clashed in the streets, leaders from the G20 nations met Saturday inside a heavily fortified enclave in downtown Toronto. The prime minister and his wife, Laureen, greeted the G20 leaders and their spouses at a reception at the Royal York Hotel and the leaders gathered for a working dinner. The G20 is expected to ask countries to cut their deficits in half by 2013, a draft of the final communiqué obtained by the CBC's senior business correspondent Amanda Langs says.

On Saturday, G8 leaders strongly admonished North Korea and Iran for their nuclear activities in a unanimous statement at the end of the G8 summit in Huntsville, Ont. At the close of the summit, the leaders released the G8 Muskoka Declaration, noting the importance of security and global development.

On Friday, the first day of the G8 summit near Huntsville, Ont., Canada pledged $1.1 billion to its global initiative on maternal and child health for developing countries.

Well, they were supposedly there to talk about how to control the financial market and system to protect the nations and people, but came up with social rape programs to exploit the people even more while changing zero about the financial systems perversions.

An absurd program against the deficits which will result in more poverty and a longer recession - the alternative would be more debts for the states, owed to the bankers - either way, people being f***ed and our economies and social systems ruined.

The Plutocrats just manage to get away with everything and now the people can pay for the debts and crisis the speculators and banks caused, while the majority will suffer and being even harder enslaved.

One could go mad looking at those treacherous, corrupted politicians, which are just the menials of the Plutocracy.
