Well now the truth is that according to the 2012 GWAS study on pigmentation in four European countries (Ireland, Italy, Poland, Portugal), where skin, hair and eye colours of the following populations were compared and studied thoroughly. The study was led by Candile et al and also with the collaboration of universities in the respective countries. The Irish group came out as the lightest in skin, hair and eye colour, followed by the Polish group as I already expected. Yes for sure the Irish have on average a lighter skin complexion than continental Europeans, this is due to a higher frequency of red hair genes.
