If I grew up in an all-wasp society in the old days and saw Sicilians then I would definitely think they have some slave ancestry.

Since we have DNA testing that shows there is not more than 1-2% SSA in Sicilians, it's meaningless to bring it up. It's just being provocative. You know I consider you a friend, but it doesn't take a rocket scientist to know this thread was made with one particular person in mind (who I dislike just as much as you do, for the record).

its not history though... you are exchanging the word "black" for "colored". "Colored" meant non-white... that is why they were like that on the census's. You would be recorded as "colored" for example. Also, you, and the "history" you are citing say that Italians were lynched as "blacks", once again this is not true. The only lynching recorded of Italians in the South was in New Orleans in the 1890s when 11 sicilian immigrants were lyched after the killing of a police detective because the mob thought they were part of the black hand mafia. Not because they thought they were black. You are just a pot stirring troll.

I think this shows, above all, the fallacies of early American racial classifications.

Strong source, OP. Not really You do realize Africans and other black people always try to tell us that Sicilians have some kind of black african ancestry when the biggest influence seems to be greek and not NA, which is most likely 6%? Being pigmented also doesn't mean being black.
exactly this. Even to this day many non-western Europeans are considered ''wogs'' in many countries.Originally Posted by Sikeliot;

Sicilians are genetically the same as Ashkenazi Jews and Cretan Greeks. Mainland Greeks plot further north closer to other Balkan people and central Italians.
But either way.. no non-Caucasoid exceeding a couple percents, which is also the case for other Southern Europeans, and much less than the amount of Mongoloid in Finns and Russians.
